CHRIS COWDREY

Chris Cowdrey, born in 1957 is the eldest son of cricket legend Lord Cowdrey.

Chris played for Kent, Glamorgan & England. An all-rounder in county cricket, he bowled at a bustling medium pace, was a middle-order hitter & a good fielder.

In 1984, Chris Cowdrey was selected for the victorious England tour to India where he played all five Test Matches & three one-day Internationals. With only his fourth ball in Test Cricket, he took the wicket of Kapil Dev in Bombay.

Chris is part of the Cowdrey dynasty. His late father Lord Colin played 114 test matches for England & was latterly Chairman of the ICC. Grandfather Stuart Chiesman was Chairman of Kent CCC for 12 years & Chris together with his brother Graham, ensured that a Cowdrey was on the Kent team sheet for 48 successive years.

Colin & Chris Cowdrey were only the second father & son combination to have both captained England with Frank & George Mann being the first. Chris also emulated his father by captaining Kent.

Chris retired from cricket in 1992 & joined BBC's cricket team on Test Match Special before becoming the lead presenter & commentator for Talksport Radio. He is now a regular summariser on Sky TV.
