CHRISTOPHER
MARTIN-JENKINS MBE

Christopher Martin-Jenkins also known as 'the voice of cricket' & CMJ is one of the game's foremost commentators.

Christopher began his career in sport as the Captain of Marlborough Cricket Team followed by Captaining Cambridge University Crusaders & Fitzwilliam College Cricket Club. He achieved two Rugby Fives half-blues, was a quarter finalist in the British University Fives Championships, played cricket for Surrey second XI & was a runner-up in the 1971 Surrey single-wicket championship.

After gaining a 2:1 Honours Degree in Modern History (Master of Arts) at Marlborough & Cambridge in 1967, his journalistic talents were then encouraged by EW Swanton by joining The Cricketer magazine as his Assistant Editor, he later became Deputy Editor & then Editor of The Cricketer.

From there Christopher joined the BBC Sports News department & was appointed Cricket Correspondent in succession to Brian Johnston in 1973.

In 1980 he left the BBC to become editor of The Cricketer but returned in 1985, combining both roles until he joined The Daily Telegraph as their Cricket Correspondent in 1990. Christopher switched to The Times as their Chief Cricket Correspondent in 1998 & still remains a regular on BBC's Test Match Special.

Christopher will take over the role of President of the MCC on 1st October 2010.
