| Fred is probably best known for his appearances on the This Morning weather map & between 1988 & 2001 he delivered the weather live from the Albert Dock in Liverpool over 2000 times! All of those were memorable but the one that sticks in everyone's mind was when the streaker climbed from the waters of the dock onto the weather map live on the morning show. |
| In 1998, Fred was voted the Weatherman of the Year by television weather presenters from over 100 countries at the Annual International Weather Festival in Paris. Fred has appeared on many shows including Shooting Stars & has been honoured to receive a 'Gotcha' from Noel Edmonds! |
| Since 1985, Fred has worked with Granada providing daily films for the award-winning local news programme Granada Reports. He recently finished filming an 8-part series for Granada TV about the North West canal system, Locks & Quays. Often quirky & always informative Fred has covered the region & is a much loved television presenter. |
| His passion is astronomy & anything scientific as he has the knack of explaining complicated stories in an understandable way. He can make anything sound interesting & really bring a story to life. A viewer once wrote in to say that he could make a film about paint drying sound fascinating! A one-off documentary that Fred did for Granada brought in a 35% audience share in the prime-time 7.30pm slot. |
| Always heading off to interesting holiday destinations with his DV camera Fred has made films about various trips including Antarctica & trekking through the rain forests of Borneo. In 2004 he decided that he just had to visit Timbuktu & after a gruelling journey he reached the town on the edge of the Sahara. These films have been transmitted on Granada & it's his way of sharing unusual destinations with his viewers. |
| His passion of anything scientific has seen him lecture all over the country & has made many science programmes including The Acid Test & two series of Prove It for CITV. |
| As an after dinner speaker he is superb as his speech is 'off the cuff' with countless anecdotes about the life of a TV presenter. Fred's style is relaxed & he is very much at ease with his audience, bringing an infectious enthusiasm to any subject. |
