JOHN BIRD

One half of the award-winning writing duo...Bird & Fortune. This duo is responsible for some of the best satirical material on British television.

Bird & Fortune met through the famous Cambridge Footlights where they were both founders of the Peter Cook Establishment Club between 1961 & 1964 with John Bird later co-founding the New York branch of the club in 1963.

The Two Johns then made the move to television & contributed to a number of key satirical television hits of the 1960s such as BBC3 & The Late Show.

As an actor, John Bird's numerous TV credits include: A Very Peculiar Practice, Inspector Morse, El Cid, Blue Remembered Hills, BBC's legal comedy Chambers & the political satirical dramas In The Red, Giving Tongue & To Play The King. Film credits include Jabberwocky, Dick Turpin & Yellow Pages.

Bird & Fortune teamed up with Rory Bremner for the 1993 series, Rory Bremner, Who Else? & have since shared top billing on Channel 4's Bremner, Bird & Fortune since 1999.

They have received awards from amongst others, BAFTA, The Variety Club & The British Comedy Awards along with a 2003 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Entertainment of 2002 for their show performed at the Albery.
