ROY HUDD OBE

Roy is now in his fifth decade in show business. Starting out as a Butlin Red Coat he has tackled everything; Stand-up Comedy, Pantomime, Music Hall, Farce, Film, Musicals & the plays of Shakespeare, Stoppard & Cooney. Roy's also been involved with soaps, sit-coms, dramas & variety. On radio, for 26 years Roy led the show that won every possible award at home & abroad; The News Huddlines.

His writing ranges from dozens of pantomimes to Underneath The Arches (in which he was awarded the "Best Actor in a Musical" Laurence Olivier Theatre Award). Roy has written three books including his autobiography & writes regularly for Yours magazine.

Roy has been a member of the Grand Order of Water Rats for 40 years & was King Rat for the Orders 100th Anniversary & again for the millennium. His theatre career is a long & distinguished one encompassing concert party, musical hall, variety, musicals & the legit from Ray Cooney to Shakespeare. Pantomime has also been an enormously important part of Roy's career having appeared in more than 30 & written almost as many!

Four years ago Roy was awarded the OBE in the New Years Honours List for services to entertainment. A year later Roy was made an Honorary Doctor of Civil Law at the University of East Anglia.

Roy is the President of The British Music Hall Society, a member of the Charities Committee of The Grand Order of Water Rats & a Trustee of the Actor's Trade Union, Equity.
