Speaker - After Dinner Speaker
Corporate Events, Conferences, Award Ceremonies
Graham Davies is a highly acclaimed speaker with corporate finesse and a sharp topical wit!
Graham started his speaking career at the Cambridge Union, where he had the chance to debate against luminaries ranging from Michael Heseltine to Nicholas Parsons. It was after being elected President of the Union that he started to receive invitations to speak after various formal dinners.
After leaving Cambridge with a first class degree in premature hair loss, he was called to the Bar in 1986. He now combines the life of a Barrister at the Criminal Bar with that of the corporate After Dinner Speaker, speaking at 120 functions a year. He has developed a speaking style which can best be described as being somewhere between Voltaire and the Sunday Sport.
Despite all this, recent satisfied clients include IBM, Unisys, Legal & General, DHL, Vauxhall, Agfa and KPMG Peat Marwick. Graham uses his experience as a practising Barrister in working to a brief about his audience. He can skilfully utilise background information about the Company to ensure the speech is highly personalised.
If appropriate (and only then) he is particularly adept at targeting high profile personalities. He is also a past-master of the art of the “wind-up”. Roles include; The Marketing Director of Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank / The Wax Director of Madame Tussaud’s / The Lead Guitarist of Pink Floyd.
However, Graham is supremely adaptable and is certainly not tied to the “personal” approach. His more general material is always sharp and topical. In fact, he is increasingly in demand as a corporate speech writer, Presentational Skills Trainer and Conference Link Presenter. As the Sunday Times said of him, “Davies may not yet be the King of After Dinner Speakers, …..but he is certainly one of the Industry’s Princes”.
