Peter Shilton is a former goalkeeper with an International record of 125 caps making him England’s most capped player.
He was the youngest player to play for Leicester City when at age 16 and a half he took over as their goalkeeper from the legendary Gordon Banks.
He then went on to play for numerous English clubs including: Leicester, Stoke City, Nottingham Forest, Southampton. Derby County; Plymouth Argyle (Player-Manager) Bolton Wanderers and finishing at Leyton Orient (where he achieved a record 1005 league appearances).
Peter won every trophy in the game (except the F.A Cup winners medal-, runner up .in 1969 for Leicester City v. Manchester City) including 2 European Cups in successive years in early 1980’s for Nottingham Forest.
Peter made his debut for England in 1970 playing against East Germany. He was then first team goalkeeper for the next 20 years, finishing after the World Cup in Italy 1990.
Peter played in 3 World Cups: 1982 in Spain, 1986 in Mexico and 1990 in Italy gaining a record number of 125 caps for England, Peter also played at Wembley more times than any other player.
